Happy Birthday to my wonderful wife...

Being a student has its perks. I get out of class at 12:30 in the afternoon, I have no class of Friday, etc. However, being a student also means I have 0 cash and 0 time to do anything but reading and working. Believe me folks, my tax class is not as much fun as Tax class sounds.

Anyway, today is Jessica's birthday and I just wanted to tell her that I couldn't imagine what life would be like without her and that I am happy to now be able to call her my wife.

Rather than give Jessica a gift this year, I gave her a card and a coupon redeemable for a 'super amazing gift of my choice in the future (assuming rich has money and a job).' While she didn't get a gift, we did spend last weekend in NYC. We saw Wicked with Rob and Ashley who also stayed with us at Tom's on Saturday night. Thanks again Tom and Michael for the use of your place! Can't wait for November when we come to your place in CT with Mom and Dad.

Lastly, many of you know that Jax went into surgery for bladder stones. They removed one and stapled him up, however, while he was still under, we had his teeth cleaned. I joked with Jessica that he's good for another 6 years or 60,000 miles. Considering the cost, dogs are not included as dependents under Jessica's current medical plan, I hope that's true :).

Hope all is well with everyone, back to Tax Land I go!

Uncle Rich and Aunt Jessica, squared

As you may have noticed on my brother and zoes page, Connor James Christenson was born today, September 11th, 2006 at 4:55 pm.

More info on the baby can be found on their page, go and visit there for photo's and the dad's perspective when he finally posts.

With a new baby and a few dogs to take care of, it might take some time. Hope everyone is having as great a day as this family is having!

Best of luck to the new parents, we can't wait to see the new family this weekend!
Might I remind you that 61% of you were dead wrong, Connor was 11 days late..

The Vineyard, an electric scare, my Grandfather, Return to school/work and a Happy Ending

The Vineyard
Ok, so everyone here probably already knows what the weather was like for our trip to Martha's Vineyard. It was nothing that we had hoped for but we made the made the most of it. Jared and Jessica finished a 1000 piece puzzle and I finished a book. We spent the only "nice" day at the beach and the rest of the time wandering the island either by car or bike. All in all, the trip served it's purpose, I came back relaxed and ready for school...ok, I lied about the ready for school part but atleast I was relaxed. Pictures can be found to the right.

An Electric Scare
When we came back from the Vineyard, life returned to normal, Jessica started work again and I returned to school. Neither of were psyched about that but that is life. On Sunday night around 2 am we heard a buzz and crack in the wall behind our bed. We then smelt electricity coming from our spare room. Knowing there wasn't much we could do, we moved the bed and junk under it to the dining room, shut the breakers off in the house on that side of the room and went to sleep.

Two days later the electrician came by to check out our problem and ripped out the wire that ran the heat in the spare room. I took a shot of it below for you to check out. The electrician was shocked that our apartment was still there for him to take the wire out. We're pretty happy too.

My Grandfather
Many of you already know that my Grandfather passed away last week, September 1, 2006. I spoke with him about a week before things took a turn for the worse and had probably the greatest conversation in sometime. Honestly he talked my ear off on the phone and wanted to keep going when I think Grandma finally told him to stop. We talked about his Merk days, a family day I remembered going to with them, his time at Revere Beach (back in the 20's or 30's I think), golf (as usual he mentioned he'd love to play again), school (he was pretty happy I returned) and the family. I linked to his obituary, as my sister did on her page.

return to School and Work
All I can say about this is that I will use this excuse in the future when people ask why I haven't been posting. In her first week back Jessica worked till 11pm one night. I joined her at around 9 pm with the dog and a movie to watch in her conference room, sadly it didn't make things better.

A Happy Ending
Finally, Jessica and I decided to stop off at Friendly's before we went grocery shopping tonight. As the title of this section indicates, I ordered my dinner just because it came with a Happy Ending Sunday. I need to remind myself next time to skip the dinner and go straight for the Sunday, it was a million times better anyway....although it reminded me of my Grandfather as Jessica ordered the fishamajig. The same thing I remember him eating when we went with Grandma and Grandpa when were younger.
