Rich & Jess: August 2006

Greetings from MV!

Jessica, her family, and I are here on Martha's Vineyard enjoying the lovely weather this week has brought us. Despite the weather forecasts you have been watching on the northeast, the sky is blue and the sun is shining....ok ok, so that isn't true but we are having a great time none the less.

I've spent a lot of time reading books which are not assigned by professors and enjoying the lack of any school work. Not to mention I was surprised to see two grades posted before I left, which made the weekend start on an awesome note....

AS you all know, we took care of Julie and Ben's baby Caleb while they attended a wedding in VT. He was awesome, loved to watch cartoon's read books about tractors and swing like a monkey in the playground. We have some pictures which we will share with you when we return.

Currently we are all eating breakfast and talking about the coming sunshine where I expect my routine to change from sitting in a chair reading a book to sitting on a beach chair reading a book. Ah, life is great!

Signing off from MV, hope everything is well with everyone around us.

Handsome Boy

Julie and Ben come in this Friday for a wedding and Rich and I will be babysitting their cute son Caleb for the weekend. We have big plans to take him to the Children's Museum on Saturday and spend lots of time at the playground and out looking for arfs. I am sure we will have a wonderful weekend and then Sunday after we drop them at the airport it is off to the ferry to go to Martha's Vineyard for a week of vacation with my family. We are really looking forward to the relaxation and good times!

San Fran & Exams

Morning and Happy Monday. I am back at my desk in Boston and Rich is hopefully acing an Econ final. Rich's hell week of finals and final projects due began this morning. This will wrap up his 2nd summer semester at NorthEastern.

I went out to San Francisco last Thursday to meet with the vendors for our NeoCarta Summit coming up in October. Thursday night I went out for drinks with our office assistants and then we had dinner on the ocean. It was a beautiful warm day for San Francisco! Friday after work I met up with my friend and NeoCarta's CFO, Lee. She and I went to a new restaurant Nopa that has had some rave reviews in some local magazines, as well as Bon Appetit. It was totally amazing and we ate ourselves sick. The Strawberry Sangria was definately a highlight! Saturday morning we got up and went to the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. It was huge and had some amazing (and bizarre) produce and food vendors. I would go every weekend if I lived there! From there we traveled north into wine country to Healdsburg. It was a beautiful little town that is somewhat undiscovered and what Napa would have been like many years ago. We wandered the town and in and out of tasting rooms and then had lunch outside at the Oakville Grocery. From there we headed back to the city for a spa treatment at Bliss Spa and then to an early dinner at Boulevard. I spent the night down at Lee and Tony's house and then after Dim Sum on Sunday I was back on the plane for the long flight home.

I came home to a strung out and stressed out student/husband. Rich spent the last 4 days studying like crazy. Jax was so happy to see me since I had time to snuggle and play! I am sure Rich's hard work will pay off. If you talk to him this week wish him luck!!
