Rich & Jess: May 2006

Yes, we are still alive. No, we can't believe the wedding is this weekend!

That about sums up both our attitudes right now. Jessica has been working feverishly to get the final details planed out, putting timelines together for the caterer, band and anyone else who might need one. She's also been dealing with all the last minutes details for flowers, cake, etc. Honestly she's been unbelievable through this whole process, I'm pretty lucky.

I started school today and am pretty much focusing on that. It's very strange going back to school after so long away from it and even though the start if it falls in our wedding weekend, I don't have any regrets. At least we have a 2 day honeymoon planned!

Anyway, off to try and relax for the rest of the night. Hope you all have safe travels up to Boston. Not sure if there will be another post before the wedding!

Crunch time - 2 weeks to go

I am sure you have all been checking the website just wondering when our next post will be, 'it's about time that they get the burrito post off there' I am sure a lot of you will say. Well we are very sorry. It's been wedding central here in Boston and Jessica and I have been pretty busy.

Anyone who has experienced a wedding first hand knows that much goes into the planning of these events. It's more than just picking a place and caterer. There is a seating chart, a picture list, a timeline to plan, a dog to groom....Ok, you got me, I tossed the last one in there for kicks but he is pretty scraggly right now, thank goodness we have an appointment for him before the wedding. We wouldn't want him to look unkempt in the pictures, he'd never forgive us.

So what have we been up to you ask? Well, last weekend I took a final trip to Florida to spend time with my family. Saturday the 'Men' took the boat out into the Gulf of Mexico. One of the 'Men' onboard felt sick from the uncommonly rough sea and requested to be dropped off on the beach at home where mommy was waiting for him (you can see him swimming to shore in the pictures below). The following day was Mothers Day so everyone came to Mom and Dad's for a dinner/lunch before my flight.

While I went to Florida, Jessica went to Rome to attend her cousin Kimerly's shower, she is getting married in July. From what I hear the shower was great, the Davidson's can always pull a party together.

Anyway, that catches you up to this weekend. Honestly, this weekend for me was pretty relaxing. With Jessica's Mom here, Jessica and her mother pretty much set off and did a lot of 'girl' things. You know, necklaces, jewelry, dress busseling, etc. The Dude and I pretty much sat in during the rainy parts and took walks when the sun came out.

Finally, Jessica and I took our first dance lesson today. We're taking lessons to help get Jessica over her 'leader' mentality. Captain Rhythm here doesn't need much help at all.

Hope everyone is looking to the day as much as us, until then, we'll continue watching 'Who's Wedding is it Anyway' on Style hoping that we never become these wacko people we love to watch on the TV.

Politics Smolitics

I don't know what my stand is yet on the sweeping 'proposals' for immigration reform. To be honest it hasn't really been a topic I have been loosing sleep over. Yeah, I've listened to several NPR shows touting the good and bad with both sides of the coin. I've also read many articles about the struggle and then joy some legal immigrants have gone through to become citizens.

Nothing really hit home for me until I saw the following picture, taken during yesterdays protest along Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. This picture really hit me where it hurt, and I think where all Americans will feel it, in the stomach.

That's right folks, 'they' are now threatening to take away the beloved burrito! He's right you know, we should think twice about this. The Taco Bell 'Full' Value Menu has just come out, should we as legal citizens of this country really play such a heavy card to the bearer of the burrito?

But wait, what is this.....
'The most commonly served style of the burrito in the United States is thought to be indigenous and is not as common in Mexico.' Could it be? Could Wikipedia have incorrect information?

No matter your stand on the legalization of illegal immigrants, all I ask is that the beloved Burrito get left alone. It's time for world to speak out about this injustice....VOTE HERE - www.misterpoll.com

Marriage License

Today, Jessica and I went to city hall to apply for a marriage license. We were lucky enough to have a camera phone to capture us in the act of filling out the form for the world to see! Notice how Jessica snuck her ring into the picture? I still think I did a fine job picking that one out.

We also went to the Gamble today for a walkthrough with the caterer. All the small details of the wedding need to be taken care of now, nothing is too small to get over looked. It's funny, everyone always asks me how the wedding planning is going, my reply has always been, I think it's done. Whoa, was I wrong. This last month is the critical month where decisions like table numbers, table placement, cake placement, etc all get made. I can't believe how much there is to do, thankfully Jessica has her wedding binder close at hand.

Anyway there is always more to write but Jessica keeps telling me that my posts are too long. Since we last posted we had 2 showers (no not the ones with soap, bridal ones). One my sister put on down in Florida, where men were actually invited to and one in Rome NY, hosted by Jessica's Aunt and Cousin. Both were filled with good food and a great time. Pictures can be found on my parents page for the Florida one, as far as the Rome one goes, I am sure pics will be up soon.

Hope everyone is having a great start to the week.
